| LADIES (Sat, 1 April 2006) Moosettesz vs Millennia Skools Floorball Youth 14-0 (1-0, 8-0, 5-0) Moosettesz booked their semi-final spot with a comprehensive 14-0 win over Millennia Skools Floorball Youth, but had to work hard after the first period only produced 1 goal. However, Moosettesz got going in the 2nd period and came out comfortable winners against a team missing several regulars due to illness and other commitments. Millennia Skools OSB Owls vs Pasirian Scheqaz 5-1 (3-0, 1-0, 1-1) Millennia Skools OSB Owls beat Pasirian Scheqaz 5-1 in the second quarter-final, but missed the incisive play of key player Angela Model, who is presently overseas. Pasirian Scheqaz were missing their full complement of Malaysian players as Nurhasheda Mohd Noh had hockey commitments back home. Owls took a 3-goal lead at the end of the first period, but were made to work for the rest of the match. Tampines East Titans vs NTU Tempest 2-2 (0-2 ps) (1-0, 1-0, 0-2) In the 3rd quarter-final, Tampines East Titans appeared to have earned safe passage to the semi-finals after taking a 2-0 lead, going into the 3rd period. However, incessant pressure from a determined NTU Tempest saw them pulling 2 goals back to force a penalty shootout. Fu Yan Ping and Chung Sue Lyn were successful with their attempts to guide NTU Tempest to victory, and a semi-final match-up with Moosettesz. NUS Jupitans vs Motorola Pink Flamingoes 1-1 (0-1 ps) (1-0, 0-0, 0-1) In the last quarter-final, NUS Jupitans took a first period 1-0 lead, but were unable to hold on, with Motorola Pink Flamingoes equalising in the 3rd period. Flamingoes completed their comeback in the resultant penalty shootout, with Vivien Ong scoring the only penalty shot. Motorola Pink Flamingoes' reward is a semi-final match-up with Millennia Skools OSB Owls. MEN (Sun, 2 April 2006) Nhac Tre No.1 vs Moosemen 9-4 (2-0, 4-0, 3-4) Nhac Tre No.1 made it comfortably through to the semi-finals with an easy win over Moosemen. Moosemen surprisingly opted to break up the tried and tested Joshua Brown-Lionel Sing partnership by playing them in different lines, perhaps to accommodate the new players. By the end of the 2nd period, Nhac Tre No.1 had already taken a 6-0 lead. It was only in the 3rd periond that the lethal duo were paired together again, and their effectiveness was immediately shown with 2 quick goals either side of a Nhac Tre goal. Moosemen ended winning the 3rd period by 4-3, but it was however too late to make a difference to the result of the match, with Tan Cheen Ming of Nhac Tre outstanding in notching up 3 goals. New signings Tero Weckman (1 goal) and Chau Lam (2 assists) also did their part. Millennia Skools Innebandy vs Genesis ITE 5-10 (0-2, 1-4, 4-4) In the second quarter-final, Genesis ITE took a 3-0 lead before MS Innebandy pulled a goal back. However, Genesis ITE scored another 3 goals to make it 6-1 going into the last period. MS Innebandy started an unlikely comeback with 3 early goals in the 3rd period to narrow the deficit to 4-6. Genesis ITE continued to profit from Timothy Quek's lethal finishing, and Man of the Match Hamizyam Samion's excellent goalkeeping. Genesis ITE restored their 3 goal cushion to 4-7, before a MS Innebandy goal livened things up again. Genesis ITE romped home with another 3 goals to make it 10-5, and with it a spot in the semi-finals. Despite missing a sick Joseph Benjamin Cortes and the suspended Md Rizal Razali, the other new transfer window signings Md Hadi Hassan Basri, Md Miryanto Amir, Md Fuad Razali and of course Hamizyam Samion impressed enough to make Genesis ITE a very serious threat in the playoffs. NUS Nemesis vs Merahan Knights 4-4 (2-0 ps) (0-2, 3-0, 1-2) In the third quarter-final, Merahan Knights took a 2-0 first period lead, before NUS Nemesis woke up from their slumber to score 3 goals in the second period. A further goal early in the third period gave them a 2-goal cushion. This cushion did not prove to be enough as the resilient Merahan Knights scored 2 goals in this see-saw match to bring the match to equilibrium, and ultimately a penalty shootout to decide the winners. As it was, Dennis Ang and Eugene Lim converted their penalty shots to bring NUS Nemesis through to a semi-final meeting with Nhac Tre No.1. Motorola Red Flamingoes vs Pasirian Hitmen 11-0 (3-0, 2-0, 6-0) In the last quarter-final, Motorola Red Flamingoes made easy work of Pasirian Hitmen with a comprehensive 11-0 win, with Joakim Strom scoring 5 goals, and Tan Yiru scoring 2. Filip Dahlgren, Mats Eriksson, Enrico Marican and Marc Swiss weighed in with one goal each as Pasirian Hitmen were swept away. With the win, Motorola Red Flamingoes qualified for an interesting semi-final match-up against Genesis ITE. |
