| After 5 rounds of matches, we have almost reached the halfway stage of the league. With no play-offs this year, it will be the league standings that will decide the SFL2007 Champions. However, it may not need to go all the way to April Fool's Day (final day of the SFL2007 Div 1 is on 1 Apr 07) to decide the champions as the key matches would already have been played way before then. MEN In the Men's League, there are 4 teams at the top with 12 points, with only goal difference separating them. The 4 teams are Nhac Tre No.1, Skools Innebandy, Motorola Red Flamingoes and Moosemen in that order. The SFL2007 Men's Division 1 Champion should come from one of these four teams. So far, Flamingoes have yet to play any of the other 3 teams, and they have already lost to NUS Nemesis. Their chances therefore rest with good wins over the 3 other pacesetters. Moosemen have also lost one match - to Merahans Knights. However, they made up for that loss with a win over Nhac Tre No.1. Nhac Tre in turn had beaten Skools Innebandy. It is quite likely that goal difference might play a role in deciding the champion, come the end o the season. It all boils down to some of the key matches that will take place from now until the end of the season. After the Lunar New Year break, Moosemen will take on Motorola Red Flamingoes on 25 Feb 07, while Nhac Tre No.1 will have a testing time against NUS Nemesis, with Skools Innebandy having it easier against Pasirian Hitmen. The following weekend will see crunch ties with Flamingoes taking on Nhac Tre (3 Mar), and Skools Innebandy facing Moosemen (4 Mar). This could be the weekend that decides the title. If these 4 teams can brush aside the challenge of the other teams, the only other match of great significance would be the Flamingoes/Innebandy match on the penultimate weekend (25 Mar). If it should come to goal difference, Skools Innebandy could have an edge as it has both a good scoring and defensive record. Moosemen could be hampered in many matches with the absence of key scorer Lionel Sing, while Flamingoes' defence has yet to be tested against the big guns. Nhac Tre will lose key player Santeri Rantala soon, and could have problems raising a full strength side in some matches due to overseas travels. A suspect defence could also hamper their title hopes. It will be an exciting 2 weeks after the break, which could very well decide the fate of the title, and it will be 2 weekends to look forward to. It won't take long for at least one team to lose that record, and in the process decide the title. Immediately after the Lunar New Year break, Skools OSB Owls will take on LMFC2011 in virtually the SFL2007 Ladies' Div 1 Final on 24 Feb. The winner of the match will be favourites to lift the title at the end of the season, although both teams have yet to face the third team in the equation, Tampines East Titans, who lost ground when they were defeated by Motorola Pink Flamingoes. Owls take on Titans on 3 Mar, while LMFC2011 will face Titans on 24 Mar. If the Owls-LMFC2011 match should end in a draw, it will lead to an interesting and frantic end to the season for both teams as they try to pile on the goal difference in their remaining matches, with Owls having a testing last match against NTU Tempest, while LMFC2011 will take on United World College, if they turn up (both on 31 Mar).
