With 2 rounds of matches to go for both the Men's and Ladies' Division 1 , the season will come to a climatic close, especially on the final weekend when crucial matches will be played.  And as we take this one week Easter break, it is time to do another review of the league.

MEN'S DIVISION 1

The Men's Division 1 Champion will come from the Big 3 of Skools Innebandy, Z-Athletica Red Flamingoes, and Moosemen.  Merahans have fallen off the pace after the upset defeat to NUS Nemesis last weekend.  These Big 4 will meet on the final weekend, with Merahans taking on ZARF, while Skools Innebandy will take on Moosemen in the very last match of the season. With the Big 3 all locked on 24 points with one defeat each, it may all boil down to goal difference to decide the champions.  Skools Innebandy currently hold the edge with a +77 difference while ZARF (+64) and Moosemen (+52) will seek to close the gap with resounding victories in the remaining matches.  Merahans could yet play spoiler in their final match against ZARF, but may have to settle for 4th place even with a win with their +41 difference or at best hope for 3rd place.

At the bottom end, Blacks FC are virtually assured of finishing last with 0 points, having 2 tough matches against Moosemen and NUS Nemesis.  The other relegated team should come from NTU Hurricanes, Singapore School Boys or NUS Saints.  NTU Hurricanes have fallen into the relegation mix after 6 consecutive defeats, but have a good chance of avoiding relegation with its final 2 matches.  They will meet Singapore School Boys in the final weekend with everything to play for.  They could also steer clear of the relegation zone with their match against Nhac Tre No.1 the previous week.  Nhac Tre No.1 are not safe from relegation yet, and having conceded a walkover to Skools Innebandy as a result of too few players, they should perhaps consider changing their name to Nhac Tre Noone instead of Nhac Tre Number 1.  NUS Saints will finish off their season with a match against RP Salibandy, but could even escape relegation with a good result against brother team NUS Nemesis next weekend.

Pasirian Hitmen will likely finish in 5th place, while NUS Nemesis and RP Salibandy should take the next 2 spots.

LADIES' DIVISION 1

In the Ladies'  Division 1, LMFC2011 are now firm favourites to retain their title after the 5-2 title decider against Skools OSB Owls.  Owls will be hoping against hope that NUS Titans will do them a favour by repeating last season's victory over LMFC2011 on the final weekend of this season, and hope to scrape through to the title on goal difference with emphatic victories in their final 2 matches against the bottom 2 teams, Singapore School Girls and FC Squirrettes. Owls have a goal difference of +30 against LMFC2011's +43, with LMFC2011 facing NTU Tempest in their other match.    NUS Titans have not been too impressive this season, and face important matches in their end of season run-up.  They will play Z-Athletica Pink Flamingoes, their main rivals for 3rd placing, next weekend.  ZAPF will only need a draw to clinch 3rd place, with their superior goal difference, and with Titans facing LMFC2011 in their last match.  Pasirian Scheqaz lie in wait for 4th placing in case there are any slip-ups by Titans.  Scheqaz could also face a challenge for 4th placing from Skools OSB Youth, with both teams meeting on the final day.  Skools OSB Youth could sneak into 4th place with wins against FC Squirrettes and Pasirian Scheqaz to put them on 15 points, which would be the same points as NUS Titans, if they lose both their remaining matches, and Pasirian Scheqaz, assuming the latter beats NUS Jupitans.  It would then come down to goal difference, and NUS Titans' goal difference of +12 could be whittled down, while Youth's goal difference could increase substantially for them to nick 4th place.

At the bottom of the table, FC Squirrettes are virtually assured of finishing the season with peanuts and as wooden spoonists, facing the 2 Skools OSB teams in their remaining matches. Singapore School Girls will play NTU Tempest on the final weekend to decide which team will finish in 8th and 9th placings.  NUS Jupitans should finish in 7th place.

It will be sad for many to see the end of this season's Division 1, but the final weekend promises to be an exciting weekend, with lots of action and decisions to be made from the crucial matches.   So head your way down to Jurong West, especially on the final weekend, for the exciting finale to the Division 1 season!
